Donald Trump Jr. and his sister Ivanka Trump have been questioned under oath by attorneys for the New York Attorney General’s civil investigation into the Trump Organization, NBC News confirmed with two sources close to the investigation.
Neither Trump invoked their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination to avoid answering questions, sources told NBC.
Their brother Eric Trump, who along with Donald Jr. The Trump organization invoked his Fifth Amendment right more than 500 times when questioned under oath in the investigation in October 2020, according to a court filing.
Their father, former President Donald Trump, is expected to be impeached in the coming weeks by attorneys for Attorney General Letitia James, sources told NBC.
James is investigating claims that the Trumps’ company misquoted the valuations of several real estate assets in order to obtain tax breaks and more favorable financial terms for loans and insurance.
The Trumps had spent months trying to avoid being questioned by challenging subpoenas from James’ office.
But a judge in Manhattan ordered them to submit to the statements.
Those sessions, which were scheduled to begin in mid-July, had been postponed in agreement with James after the death of the elder Trump’s first wife, Ivana, at her Manhattan residence on July 14. Ivana Trump was the mother of Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric.
Since then, Donald Jr. last week for questioning, sources said.
Ivanka was questioned on Wednesday.
Ivanka is a former top executive at the Trump Organization and served as a senior White House adviser to her father during his only tenure.
